Boulder Colorado worm composting basics

February 7th, 2009

If you don’t want to buy ‘Worms Eat My Garbage‘ and are feeling a bit adventurous, Boulder County Open Space outlines pretty much everything you need to get started with worm composting.  It also has contact information for local sources for redworms.  From the introduction:

If you don’t have a backyard, live in the mountains, or don’t have space for a big bin, you can still compost your kitchen scraps with red wriggler worms.

Go read the page if you’re on the fence!

My daughter is doing a science experiement for school and needs to get some red worms. We live in Broomfield and wonder if we could pick them up from you.
Please let me know, or if you have any information on where we could get some.

    Thank You

    Hi Rob,

How many does she need? I can definitely spare some.

You also might want to ask at vermicomposters.com, which has a map. Someone closer might be willing to donate be closer to you than I am.

Just go to vermicomposters.com and search for broomfield,co. I see one person in Superior and one person in S Boulder.

    Dan
